Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS A HOME INSPECTION?
A home inspection is an objective visual examination of the physical structure and systems of a home.
If problems or symptoms are identified, the inspector may recommend further evaluation.
WHAT DOES AN INSPECTION INCLUDE?
The standard report will review the condition of the home's lot and grounds, roof, exterior surfaces,
garage/carport, attic, foundation, electrical, plumbing, heating, central air conditioning, and interior
surfaces such as walls, ceilings, floors, doors, and windows.
WHY DO I NEED A HOME INSPECTION?
The purchase of a home is one of the largest investments you will make. You need to learn as much
as you can about the home before you purchase it to prevent any unexpected surprises. In addition, the
home inspection will note both positive aspects and required maintenance to keep your home in good
shape. The home inspection will give you a better understanding of the property from a professional’s
point of view.
DO I NEED TO ATTEND THE INSPECTION?
While it is not necessary, we highly recommend that you attend the inspection to gain its full benefits.
The inspection gives you the chance to ask questions directly to the inspector. This will give you a
better understanding of the inspection report and the property.
HOW LONG WILL THE INSPECTION TAKE?
The time required generally depends on the size of the home. For example, an average 2,500 square
foot home may take between 2-3 hours to inspect. Another factor that may impact inspection time is
the condition of the home. If the home has many problems, additional time will be required to describe
those problems and discuss repair options with the buyer.
